Microbiology Technician Job Description
Due to an increase in our microbiological workload, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Microbiology Technician to join our small dedicated team. The position is initially offered as temporary and part-time, however the role may become permanent and a full-time opportunity may develop.
The successful applicant will have proven microbiology skills and will be familiar with traditional ‘plating’ techniques. Experience gained within a Contract laboratory environment or within the food or pharmaceutical industries would be a distinct advantage.
Microbiology Technician Duties
Duties include performing microbiological analysis on incoming samples and recording results in accordance with company data management systems. Evaluation includes pathogen testing for E.coli and Salmonella and performing viable counts to enumerate levels of bacteria and fungi.
Knowledge is required of operating, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment. Knowledge and understanding of COSHH, SDS and laboratory safe systems of work and procedures is required.
Applicants must be computer literate with knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and electronic data management.
The role is part-time between 20-30 hours per week.
